Natural Hair Habits…

It is possible to have that natural hair that is both healthy and free from dandruff and those annoying split ends.  The key is to get into a routine where you are actually actively caring for your hair.  I’m talking about schedules and special days designated for things like hair conditioning and shampoo days.  Natural hair growth is made more possible by realizing a few habits that may be harboring your hair’s potential; it also important to know the ones you need to do in order to grow long hair.

Natural Hair Growth 101

Most people are quick to rule out diet as one of the choices that affect your hair.  But watch out for that and I won’t go into too much preaching about that since that topic has been covered here before.    But allow me to stand at the pulpit and preach a little about it below since achieving hair growth is all in the small details.

All in a Good Diet

This is the song that never ends! Diet! Diet! And by that I don’t mean starvation! It’s more of a lifestyle diet.  Go on and make your diet and scalp massages a couple.  Give yourself that oil massage but don’t forget about what you’re putting into your mouth.  A protein-rich diet is essential for healthy, growing, hair.  Keep an eye out for all those processed foods that are refined and just plainly garbage!  Opt for the dark green veggies and vibrant color fruits as part of your hair care regiment.

Take yourself to the River and Drink

Drinking at least 6-8 glasses everyday is a really simple method to activate natural hair care for your scalp and follicles.  When you don’t intake enough water, you leave a dessert that will make your hair dry and dull.  Water is important to flush out your system of all those toxic waste material and it also regulates your weight! Hello! Have you been convinced by now?  And take some inventory of how much caffeine you take!  There’s no use drinking all that water and then giving it all away in dehydration!

Spoil your Head with Massages

Another natural hair tip (which you can implement as you sit there on your couch watching TV) is to start regularly massaging your scalp.  I cannot stress the importance of scalp massages and circulation!  It’s like your turning the soil and making your flower garden grow.  All you need:  suitable oil (think coconut, almond oil…) and 5-10 minutes of your time.  The circulation stimulates hair growth and gives your hair the strength it needs from the very root it stands on.

Go with the Lukewarm Water

Lukewarm is perfect for rinsing hair.  Hot water is not!   In fact, hot water is a huge contributor to hair loss since it causes your hair to dry out and be prone to easily breaking.  You want to avid premature hair loss and by using warm water you are preserving the elasticity of your strands.

Stop Overuse of Shampoo

You may be addicted to that cooling, and fresh, feeling that comes with every shampoo session but your hair is saying another thing.  Your natural hair can respond by excessive shedding and premature hair loss.  Shampoo should be used, especially for curly girls, twice to three times (maximum) a week.  You want to be hygienic but at the same time, you want to keep your natural oils that grow your hair.  No one wants a dry, stripped, scalp.

Own your Stress Before it owns you

Stress makes your body fight the vices of the mind rather than focus on the most important happenings in your body.  It’s surprising how many overlook the effects of stress when it goes neglected.  Stress does cause diseases since it causes the body to focus to work overtime.  Yoga and meditation really work and that’s why they have been there for years.  Even just 15-20 minutes is all you need to focus on your body, mind and spirit.
