Diet goes hand in hand with products to grow natural hair. Load up on that H20 to properly hydrate and achieve effective flush to get rid of nasty toxins that limit natural hair growth.
You want your diet full of proteins from fish, lean meats, eggs, beans, avocaodes and nuts. Get your fruits, your whole grains, your veggies….
Don’t forget to take your multivitamins. Your parents made you take it for a reason. It’s a great supplement that also works towards maintaining healthy, strong, hair. when hair is strong, it breaks less and retains length.
When you hydrate with water, also remember what can dehydrate you: caffeine, salt, alcohol, tobacco and artificial sweeteners. Dehydration means that you will also affect your hairs natural moisture balance so remember this.
Lastly, sleep sweetly at least for 7 hours. You need to re-rejuvenate and get rid of stress.
This is NOT an afro:
THESE are afros:
Mimicking black hair by throwing on a wig is racist and cultural appropriation. Calling unwashed/matted/unmanageable/dirty hair “afros” is racist.
When you mimic how we look, or refer to your unbrushed hair as an “afro”,it proves just how racist eurocentric beauty standards view people of color and our bodies and have no respect for our natural beauty.
Our hair is beautiful, our hair is natural, and we work hard to take care of it.
Tis the truth that the corporate world would rather hire a black woman with straight hair whether weave or her natural hair(she either straighten by hot comb or relaxed) then a woman with her natural hair, un-straightened in afro style. It is sad but it’s fact!
So what? I say wear what your like. If you love weaves, wear them. If you love the braids, wear them. If you embrace the natural, embrace it everywhere you go! I believe you can wear any style. The key is presentation. Keep your braids fresh, keep your protective styles fresh and keep your natural looking clean cut to suit whichever environment.
I am all for protective styles: weaves, extensions, braid e.t.c! I have no problem rocking my protective hair styles and extensions. What I have a problem is, deceiving people about it! Being a very open-minded natural, I embrace anything that looks great and doesn’t harm your strands. What I am sick of happens to be celebrities (Hint: Rude Boy) out there claiming that their natural roots gave births to super long, uber-priced human remi extensions.
I will not name any names! These celebrities prance around with their “real hair” dicing and cutting and getting mass followers doing the same! Sad news comes when the common person chops their gorgeous locks then finds out the celebrity was wearing a lace-front for that effect!! Get your tissues out and cry a river about the beautiful natural hair that took a whole lot of nurturing to grow but died a in the arms of some sharp scissors!
While celebrities with fake hair are busy insulting your intelligence, and refusing to admit it’s remi, some are getting ready to emulate whatever hairstyle they are selling you! What do you think?
